Shai Zurim

Born in Petah Tikva, 1972; lives and works in New York

In his neo-surrealist sculptures, Shai Zurim creates illogical assemblages that combine kitsch, exotica, and capitalism. Blocks of polyurethane foam imbue the absurd hybrids with a sense of horror and catastrophe. These are absurd structures combined with objects of mass consumption and images of decay. They create dissonances, not necessarily representing any specific place.
